Privacy Policy

Spin or Stay helps cyclists plan a ride with weather forecast points along a route. The app has no ads, does not use trackers, and does not sell user data.

Data used by the app

  • GPX/FIT files are read on-device to build the route, distance, and forecast points.
  • Route point coordinates may be sent to the weather providers selected in the app to fetch forecasts for the planned ride time.
  • PDF reports are generated locally on the device.
  • The current App Store version does not require an account.

Ride companion, GPS, and Apple Watch

  • The active route, latest forecast, and ride progress are stored locally for restoration after restart and offline reading. An offline forecast is not a new forecast; the app shows its freshness.
  • Optional GPS starts after choosing to start a ride and granting location permission. During an active ride, iPhone may use background location to match your position to the route, estimate arrival, and prepare condition alerts. You can pause or end the ride.
  • The selected plan, forecast, and progress updates are transferred to the paired Apple Watch through WatchConnectivity. The watch stores them for offline views and complications; they are not sent to a developer server.
  • A Live Activity may show a ride summary on the Lock Screen. Notifications need separate permission and can be disabled in system settings.
  • The app does not use HealthKit or start or record a health workout. If a local LANC wardrobe is available in the shared app container, it is read only on-device.

Weather sources

The app can use Apple Weather through WeatherKit, Open-Meteo, and MET Norway. Data sent to these services is limited to coordinates and forecast times needed for app functionality.

Storage and sharing

  • The app developer does not operate a server that stores user route data.
  • Routes imported by the user remain local unless the user shares them outside the app.
  • Weather data is not used to track users and is not linked to an advertising identifier.

User control

Local app data can be removed by deleting the app from the device. Users can choose a weather source in the app. During an active ride, forecasts may refresh when estimated arrival times change. Location and notification access can be revoked in system settings. To remove data saved on Apple Watch, delete the app from the watch as well.
